Yahoo! | Gemini Ads
Empowering Ads Management through Mobilization
This was born from a self-initiative project involving the product manager, engineering lead and myself. We huddled together, brainstormed ideas and defined a roadmap to develop and deliver the experience. The primary goal was to streamline the campaign management process for advertisers and campaign managers, freeing them from their desks, while also potentially attracting more users.
When I joined the Ads team, I noticed that Gemini ,Yahoo!'s native advertising platform, lacked mobile support leaving users unable to access their campaigns via their mobile devices. However, many campaign managers monitor campaigns continuously throughout the day, often requiring quick actions such as checking campaign status, pausing, or adjusting budgets. Recognizing the need to meet user demands and compete with ad products from Facebook and Google, we aimed to set a higher standard by creating an intuitive mobile campaign manager accessible within the Yahoo/Gemini client.
My Role & Responsibilities
Initiated the project alongside the product lead, serving as the sole designer responsible for end-to-end design for UX/UI, creation of the v1 design system for mobile, and conducting research for user insight and design validation
As our project gained recognition and investment, took the position of Design Lead, overseeing all design efforts for UX/UI and providing guidance to the visual designer
Collaborated closely with the product manager to define the key feature list and establish the product direction
Worked with a cross-functional team including company leadership, design leadership, product lead, engineering lead, and visual designer
Key Outcomes
Introduced the native mobile app featuring key management functionalities alongside mobile-specific experiences, including live preview capabilities
Initially rolled out to the global sales team for internal testing and feedback (dogfooding), followed by a successful public release
Received commendation from executive leadership, with one stating. βThe teamβs initiative is exactly what we need when presenting a challenge to our teams. The self-initiated project brought to the forefront many of the desktop features and is a great multi-device approach to Gemini. We literally went from having zero self-serve capabilities on the phone to having an awesome app for advertisers to make changes and optimize campaigns on the go.β

Yahoo! | Gemini Ads
Driving growth and innovation in the advertising platform
During my time at Yahoo!, I transitioned to the Ads team to have the opportunity to work on enterprise-level experience. Gemini serves as Yahoo!'s native advertising platform, offering both native and search advertising solutions.
I spearheaded its numerous feature initiatives, including the end-to-end design for Gemini's native mobile apps on iOS and Android. Additionally, I led the redesign efforts for core features such as Bulk Edit/Upload and the Ad Formats Composer, while also designing a variety of advanced ad formats. I provided creative direction for the Native Ads client home page, ad.com, overseeing a team of two designers with whom I collaborated closely.

Shaping the future of communication platforms
I began my career at Yahoo! by joining its communications team, where I worked on feature updates and major product initiatives for Yahoo!'s flagship products: Yahoo Mail, Messenger and News.
Key accomplishments include leading the redesign and launch of Yahoo Mail for touch experience, overseeing designs for Yahoo Mail features such as compose, smart views, MiM integration, and contributing to the rebrand of Yahoo Mail's desktop and mobile apps.
During my tenure at Yahoo, I also actively participated in numerous Hackday events, contributing to several winning hack initiatives. Notably, my design work for some of these projects evolved into integrated features within core Yahoo products such as Mail, News, and Play. Specifically, I led the design efforts for integrating news into the Yahoo Mail app during one of these Hackday projects. Groupon
Enabling the sharing of deals with friends and family though a seamless gift-purchasing process
During my time with Groupon's design team, I took ownership of designing multiple key features for enhancing the consumer experience on the platform. One standout project I led was the comprehensive redesign aimed at streamlining Groupon Gifting. This initiative arose from identifying an opportunity to enrich how users share their purchased deals with others through gifting. Despite the existing gifting method, its discoverability was lacking, and there was a conspicuous absence of onboarding and educational materials to acquaint users with this feature.
The enhanced gifting experience not only elevated user satisfaction through personalization but also increased our upselling efforts, leading to notable success metrics.
